8: Agropoli floundering

15 January 2017
Agropoli, Italy

Agropoli look as comfortable as a fish in the bottom of a boat. They are flopping around without any seeming purpose and their opening four wins on the bounce is but a distant memory. Mr Baddragon looks totally out of his depth and seems powerless to revive the fortunes of his team.

Our problems stem from the loss of Stefano Pilloni who was the heartbeat on the right flank.  Since he has been out with a broken leg we have looked sadly one dimensional and ineffective. I have some serious work to do to turn this around.

As it happened

Serie D – Ginome I – Match 19/36

After our poor showing last time out, 15th placed A.S.D. Due Torri offer a stern challenge for us. Do we have the toughness to bounce back.

I stick with the narrow diamond again. The team appears to pick itself .

We threw away a 3-0 lead in the last 30 minutes. Once again the defensive weakness of our side was shown up especially with the absence of Pilloni at right back.

The fact that I have no under 18 players available to allow me to not play Ferrari cost us in this game. That was a match that we should have closed out but didn’t.

Injury Update

De Pascalis is out with a virus for a couple of weeks.

Transfer News

A player who was never going to be good enough. Moved on!

Not in the age group that we are actively looking, however he will allow us to play a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.

Di Santo is a good player and will be a valuable asset for the side.

This boy is a wild card and may not be quite good enough for the first team. He offers another central defence option and is under 18 which helps as well.

May not make it in the first team, but he is worth looking at.

Corsi is another youngster who will come onto the bench to allow us to rotate the players better.

Serie D – Ginome I – Match 20/36

After our poor showing last time out we will have our work cut out for us here as we face fourth placed A.P.D. Leonfortese.

Once again we come out with the narrow diamond.  Corsi gets to start his first game for the club.

We could easily have lost the game 3-0 if it wasn’t for a fine effort from our keeper.

In the end we bagged a lucky draw in a game where they dominated.

Transfer News

Califano is being sent out on loan to get some games under his belt.

Injury Update

Donato Gaeta has not made a big impact and has only scored a solitary goal.

Serie D – Ginome I – Match 21/36

Last time out against A.S.D. Acireale Calcio we ran out 2-1 winners. After our poor run of form it would be nice to repeat that feat.

Corsi retains his place allowing De Pascalis to come in in place of Ferrari. I want to get ahead and then see if we can not hold onto the lead.

Another second half collapse sees us languishing in the relegation zone. I am starting to believe that we may be headed for the drop here.

We made most of the play but our inability to deal with the cross cost us.  The match was fairly even apart from that fact.

Results Summary

Only three games this episode and sadly no wins.

League Table

This is not where I really want to be. The team is better than this.

Next Episode

Three more games and the end of the transfer window.
